Warm tones of orange paired with wooden furniture and luscious greens were the perfect combination to create this week’s White Lily bride Beth’s dream wedding. Surrounded by New Zealand’s beautiful nature, Beth and Joey’s special day was as raw and beautiful as their love for each other.

    The Proposal

From a young age, Beth and Joey knew they were destined to be together. Their love story goes all the way back to when they were only 15 and was finally sealed on a weekend getaway to the Sunshine Coast: “… we went and watched the sunrise by point Cartwright lighthouse, he got down on one knee and I was a blubbering mess. One of the best moments of our lives, just the two of us, on the beach, at one of our favourite spots which has now become one of the most special places in the world to us. “ A few years later, the couple finally got to say their vows, which is, by the way, a memory the couple will “treasure forever.

    Rustic Autumn Vibes in Canterbury

Getting into the cooler months of New Zealand’s Canterbury, Beth and Joey wanted to embrace the Autumn theme and decided to go for a venue that reflected their personal style. Surrounded by vines with orange rust colours at Cossars Wineshed, the couple knew they didn’t need to add a lot to make their dream wedding stand out: “We are pretty relaxed people so wanted the style to reflect that- nothing too over the top, our wedding venue was beautiful already…

    The Dream Team

With help from Safia from Cossars, Beth and Joey’s day went by seamlessly. Captured by Sarah Clements and Velvet Photo Cinema, the Queensland couple was able to enjoy their special day at their fullest: “Our photographer and videographers have outdone themselves on the memories they have created for us. They were also so fun and just hyped us up the whole day!  We tossed up about getting a videographer for a long time and my goodness we are so glad we did! The first night we got the highlights video back we watched it at least 20 times and cried and laughed every since time. Worth its weight in gold!”

    Enzoani’s Lace Dream

Beth fell heads over heels in love with our MARIANNA gown by LA-based designer Enzoani: “I absolutely adored my gown on the day. It’s the perfect combination of classic and feminine. super fun to wear and the train is to die for. The intricacy of the beading and lace detail is like nothing I saw in other dresses. Even when I got the alterations done they commented on the craftsmanship that would have had to go into making this dress. When I tried this dress on it was everything I ever imagined my wedding dress to be and I felt incredible in it on my wedding day.

    Beth’s White Lily Experience

From the get-go I felt so incredibly comfortable and supported by the ladies at WLC, my dress fitting was slightly unusual due to COVID restrictions so it was tricky not having my nearest and dearest there with me but after my first appointment and lots of photos to those closest to me it was a clear consensus as to what dress was ‘the one’. I never felt rushed at any point in the day or to make a decision. My dress had to be shipped to New Zealand as I had moved back there to live and all the ladies made that whole process so seamless and organised it all for me which took a lot of stress off! I would 100% recommend WLC the range of dresses, expertise, and experience was like no other!

    Advice to Future Brides

Getting married is all about celebrating love and embracing your emotions: “…feel every emotion and don’t hold your emotions back, cry if you want to cry and laugh at any opportunity, we spent the entire day laughing and smiling with the odd tear here and there and it was so perfectly ‘us’.” We love this piece of advice and couldn’t agree more!

    Married Life

Beth’s favourite part about being married is knowing that her husband Joey will always have her back: “You are part of a team now and how cool is that that you get to spend the rest of your life with your teammate!”

Being married means committing to one person in every aspect of life from making them smile, giving them all the love, and doing the dishes. It’s about the big things and the small things, the deep discussions and the one person you know will always have you back and the small things every day that you do for your husband/wife can seem inconsequential but can make married life incredible.

  • Kate & Simon – New Zealand Mountain Dreams

Being immersed in one of the world’s most gorgeous natural habitats, this week’s White Lily bride Kate and husband Simon took our breath away with their stunning wedding images by Kiwicaptures. Their helicopter ride to the top of Peninsula Peak allowed the couple to catch the most beautiful sunset; not only were they surrounded by magical scenery and unbelievable views of New Zealand’s Wanaka, but it was also a beautiful epilogue to their mountain top engagement in 2017.

Tell us how the question got popped!

“Simon proposed in June 2017 on our first day skiing at Coronet Peak. He made me walk to the top of Coronet Peak- I wasn’t really appreciating this request at the time as I had to walk in my ski boots (which were bloody heavy). When we got to the top, I thought wow this is so unreal I can’t wait to show my siblings the photo. Having turned away from Simon to take in the glorious view, I then turned around to see him on the ground. I initially thought he had dropped something and it wasn’t until he pulled out the shiny ring box I clicked. I of course said yes and after a good twenty minutes coming to terms with what had happened, we then we skied down the mountain and met up with my brother and sister who were over skiing from Aussie also at the time.”

    Wedding Styling

Their styling was minimal yet beautiful with a focus on all the important things: A stunning location, great company and food, and lots of booze! “We really wanted a venue where we could supply our own booze- being the big booze heads we are (jokes). Thankfully we found that in Lookout Lodge. We didn’t really have a style in mind but once we picked our venue, we knew we wanted something which would suit the venue- we ended up going quite minimalistic with styling. I also knew I wanted a family banquet platter style delivered to the table as strongly believe food is what brings people together.” Cheers to that!

    The Gown

Just like Kate and Simon’s location choice, our White Lily bride’s dream dress was inspired by nature. The floral lace appliqués on ELARA by Pronovias complimented the NZ couple’s wedding in every way. When first trying it on she loved how light and comfortable it felt: “I didn’t want to feel restricted on the day or have to go on a crazy diet regime just to fit the dress.” Kate also added some custom bows to her straps to make the gown even more unique and add an ‘extra touch of NZ’. We are obsessed!

An Overseas Wedding in Times of Covid

Anyone who has family overseas knows how hard and devastating it can be to watch Covid change your plans over, and over, and over again. As Kate is originally from Australia, our global pandemic was pure devastation. Originally, their wedding was planned for April 2020 and soon postponed to January 2021. Despite their hopes of being able to spend their big day with their loved ones from Australia, borders remained shut: “After much deliberation, heartache and uncertainty we set a new date for Jan 12th 2021 with high hopes that a NZ-Australian bubble would be in operation by then. Unfortunately, that was not the case and it meant getting married without 47 Aussies that had originally booked to come over for our wedding (including my four bridesmaids). Thankfully I had two good NZ friends’ step in as bridesmaids for me on the day- which helped tremendously as I felt less alone and they went above and beyond to make up for the fact my family and friends couldn’t make it.” Despite their heartbreak and devastation, Kate and Simon made the most out of their day by FaceTiming their loved ones and life streaming their ceremony thanks to Wanaka Video. Their Aussie guests even made a surprise video: “Simon organised this with the help of sister Brooke who is a video whiz- it was a real tear jerker and a complete surprise to me.

    Kate’s Advice

Upon asking Kate what valuable advice she has for other future White Lily brides, she appeals to everyone who is on the fence about getting their photos done prior to their ceremony: “…just do it. It makes for a way more relaxed ceremony and you get to spend more time with your guests after the ceremony. Also, when you first see each other, it is just you two- no one else which is pretty special.

    Just The Beginning of Eternity

My favourite thing about being married is that there is no more wedding organisation- jokes- all that aside, it is pretty cool knowing that the person I love the most in the world is now my husband and despite a world-wide pandemic and family living overseas we made our wedding work.”

Complete the sentence: Being married means you still have to work at your relationship – just because you are married doesn’t mean that you should not go on date nights or do the things you did before you were married.

Sophie and Danny shared the magic of saying their vows in a New Zealand vineyard wedding. The family vineyard added another layer of sentimentality to the already momentous and exciting occasion. Family and and friends gathered for the duo’s special day saying ‘I do.’ under an organically styled arbor overflowing with florals.

Their guests have watched the pair grow in their love for each other having met size years ago at work. Sophie working as a flight attendant and Danny a newly qualified helicopter pilot, she initially turned him down for a dinner date! Sophie kept a strict “Don’t date date anyone from work,” policy. After a little to-ing and fro-ing, she finally said ‘Yes.’ And the rest is history.
