Sophie and Jake’s Romantic Luxe Wedding
13th July, 2021 | by AleraRomantic luxe was on Sophie’s mind when planning her special day and we are in love! Hundreds of blush and white roses, a mixture of candles and fairy lights, paired with golden decor and luxe cocktails – we couldn’t take our eyes off this week’s White Lily bride Sophie and husband Jake’s images. With help from the couple’s vendors, their vision was brought to life: “My wedding planner, florist & caterer were most important. All of these vendors did the most amazing job and I couldn’t have been happier!”
After meeting through mutual friends in Queensland’s Bundaberg, Jake proposed to Sophie at their family’s beach house in Agnes Waters. Originally, Jake had planned to surprise her with a helicopter ride to heart reef; however, Mr Covid forced Jake to whip out plan B and ask Sophie to be her wife in a slightly different setting. Despite Covid’s impact on Jake’s proposal plans, the Queensland couple’s wedding wasn’t affected by the pandemic: “We were so thankful that we didn’t have to change our date. The week leading up to our wedding all restrictions were dropped. We were so lucky!” Celebrated on private property, Jake and Sophie’s special day was truly magical.
Sophie’s Favourite Memories
With the planning and day going by so fast, Sophie particularly remembers “Walking down the aisle with my dad and seeing my husband at the other end – This was such a special moment!” Sophie also appeals to other brides, who are currently planning their wedding, and advises to take it all in: “Try and enjoy all of the planning & preparation even though it may be stressful! Time flies!”
It’s All About The Sparkle

With endless options, ever-changing bridal trends, and uncontrollable Covid-restrictions, shopping for a wedding dress in 2021/2022 can be a daunting experience, to say the least. We wouldn’t be one of Australia’s top bridal boutiques if we didn’t want you to have a flawless experience; so here is a simple guide on how to find your dream wedding dress, stress-free!
Timeline
First up, we need to have a chat about your timeline. The rule of thumb is to shop from around nine to twelve months before your wedding. As many of our bridal designers are located in Europe and the States, we want to make sure that we can find your dream dress and have enough time for it to get across the pond. Every dress is made to order, which means that we’ll take your measurements to order your gown in the right size upon ringing the bell. You will also need to allow enough time for alterations to make final tweaks and to bring your look to perfection. Generally speaking, we recommend allowing around six weeks for alterations.
Last-Minute Weddings and Sample Sales
If you’re reading this and your wedding is just around the corner, don’t freak out! We’ve been in this industry for many years, which is why we have options for every situation. Come Inspired but Open-Minded
One of the most frequently asked questions we get is: “Do you have this dress in store?” You guys are prepared, and we love it. Having a general idea of what you are linking and which style of wedding dress you prefer does not only help you with your decision, but it also allows us, stylists, to narrow down our choices for you. During your appointment, we aim to try between five and six dresses. Given that we have over 300 styles in store, it really helps to be able to pinpoint your taste and find a narrow selection of gowns that suit your vision. If you don’t have time to do your research, don’t worry! We will always sit down with you, before selecting the gowns, to make sure we understand who you are as a bride. Despite your efforts of coming prepared, it is equally as important to stay open-minded. Especially, if you haven’t tried on wedding dresses before, you might find that some dresses work better than others and it’s just a matter of trial and error to find out which one works the best. Often, our brides end up falling in love with styles they would have never picked for themselves initially. Always remember, our stylists are here to guide you in the right direction.
What do I need to bring?
Now that we have talked about the when’s and what’s, let’s talk about the how’s. Luckily, you really don’t need to bring a lot. All we need is your beautiful self and some nude and seamless underwear. Sometimes, it can help to come with a bit of makeup or your preferred wedding hairstyle so you can envision your wedding day look. On top of that, we always love to emphasise that finding your dream dress can be an experience for your entire bridal crew. Bring along your nearest and dearest, who understand your personal sense of style and value your own personal taste. In the end, your wedding is a celebration so we want to make your entire bridal journey just as much fun!

Beth and Joey’s Rustic Autumn Wedding in New Zealand

Surrounded by New Zealand’s beautiful nature, Beth and Joey’s special day was as raw and beautiful as their love for each other.
The Proposal
From a young age, Beth and Joey knew they were destined to be together. Their love story goes all the way back to when they were only 15 and was finally sealed on a weekend getaway to the Sunshine Coast: “… we went and watched the sunrise by point Cartwright lighthouse, he got down on one knee and I was a blubbering mess. One of the best moments of our lives, just the two of us, on the beach, at one of our favourite spots which has now become one of the most special places in the world to us. “ A few years later, the couple finally got to say their vows, which is, by the way, a memory the couple will “treasure forever.”
Rustic Autumn Vibes in Canterbury
Getting into the cooler months of New Zealand’s Canterbury, Beth and Joey wanted to embrace the Autumn theme and decided to go for a venue that reflected their personal style. Surrounded by vines with orange rust colours at Cossars Wineshed, the couple knew they didn’t need to add a lot to make their dream wedding stand out: “We are pretty relaxed people so wanted the style to reflect that- nothing too over the top, our wedding venue was beautiful already…”
The Dream Team
With help from Safia from Cossars, Beth and Joey’s day went by seamlessly. Captured by Sarah Clements and Velvet Photo Cinema, the Queensland couple was able to enjoy their special day at their fullest: “Our photographer and videographers have outdone themselves on the memories they have created for us. They were also so fun and just hyped us up the whole day! We tossed up about getting a videographer for a long time and my goodness we are so glad we did! The first night we got the highlights video back we watched it at least 20 times and cried and laughed every since time. Worth its weight in gold!”
Enzoani’s Lace Dream
Beth fell heads over heels in love with our MARIANNA gown by LA-based designer Enzoani: “I absolutely adored my gown on the day. It’s the perfect combination of classic and feminine. super fun to wear and the train is to die for. The intricacy of the beading and lace detail is like nothing I saw in other dresses. Even when I got the alterations done they commented on the craftsmanship that would have had to go into making this dress. When I tried this dress on it was everything I ever imagined my wedding dress to be and I felt incredible in it on my wedding day.”
Beth’s White Lily Experience
“From the get-go I felt so incredibly comfortable and supported by the ladies at WLC, my dress fitting was slightly unusual due to COVID restrictions so it was tricky not having my nearest and dearest there with me but after my first appointment and lots of photos to those closest to me it was a clear consensus as to what dress was ‘the one’. I never felt rushed at any point in the day or to make a decision. My dress had to be shipped to New Zealand as I had moved back there to live and all the ladies made that whole process so seamless and organised it all for me which took a lot of stress off! I would 100% recommend WLC the range of dresses, expertise, and experience was like no other!”
Advice to Future Brides
Getting married is all about celebrating love and embracing your emotions: “…feel every emotion and don’t hold your emotions back, cry if you want to cry and laugh at any opportunity, we spent the entire day laughing and smiling with the odd tear here and there and it was so perfectly ‘us’.” We love this piece of advice and couldn’t agree more!
Married Life
Beth’s favourite part about being married is knowing that her husband Joey will always have her back: “You are part of a team now and how cool is that that you get to spend the rest of your life with your teammate!”
Being married means committing to one person in every aspect of life from making them smile, giving them all the love, and doing the dishes. It’s about the big things and the small things, the deep discussions and the one person you know will always have you back and the small things every day that you do for your husband/wife can seem inconsequential but can make married life incredible.

Tara & Zach’s Simplistic and Timeless Kooroomba Wedding
19th July, 2021 | by AleraEvery time we receive the images from our brides, who chose to celebrate their love at Kooroomba Lavender Farm we get blown away! There is something so magical about that place, it’s hard to not obsess over their weddings. This week’s White Lily bride Tara finally got to say yes to the love of her life, Zach, during their minimalistic, timeless, and beautiful Queensland ceremony. Underneath that wooden chapel, and with views of the mountains, the Brisbane couple couldn’t have pictured a more perfect day.
Have you asked yet?
After meeting back in 2017, through a blind date organised by mutual friends, Zach finally got down on one knee to pop the question. Sticking to the gentleman’s rule book, he made sure to consult Tara’s dad, who could hardly keep the news to himself. Unfortunately, shortly after, Zach had to go away for work: “…In the meantime, the 4 weeks were killing my dad not being able to tell anyone and he kept asking Zach have you asked yet? Have you asked yet? Dad works on his own and had no one to tell his excitement to other than the postman, bank lady, barista, and the list goes on…” After four long weeks, Zach finally returned: “…when Zach returned I asked him to drive me to the doctors and he said no sorry I can’t take you I have a surprise for you when you come back. I left quite annoyed and said to him before I closed the door: “This better be bloody good.” I came back and he was in a suit with flowers and made a walkway of candles playing romantic music. He said a little speech and got down on one Knee woooo hooooo.” Woooo hooooo, indeed!
Simply Beautiful
Sometimes, it doesn’t take much to create something special, which is why Tara chose minimalistic decor and timeless elements for her wedding day: “In the wedding planning process, I was really just choosing things that I liked, with each element I was picking it just evolved into a beautifully simplistic and timeless vibe. I loved how stripped back and effortless the styling was with a modern twist.” With subtle choices like blush roses and white orchids, Tara and Zach’s wedding day was beautiful from start to finish. The moment Tara cherishes most is when she and Zach finally got to walk out of the chapel, holding hands whilst being showered by confetti.

“Elise our Photographer is by far the best human you will ever meet. When I was on the hunt for our vendors, I had messaged so many different people but just didn’t feel quite right. I came across A’daw Photography after I saw a friend’s wedding photos. I sent her a message on Instagram and instantly, I got a vibe. She was so bubbly and happy to answer any questions it was love at first Message… My hairstylist Jody was also another big part of my day…she is amazing at what she does and I love how special she makes you feel on your day. Her energy towards making you feel amazing was a real big help to calm the nerves.”
The Dress
The minimalist theme continued as Tara went looking for her dream bridal gown. When she arrived in our Brisbane boutique she saw our simplistic crepe gown SASHA by Erin Clare Bridal and fell in love: “…it made my vision come to life, Francesca got me to close my eyes, dressed me up with a veil and flowers, and it was game over. I just so happened to choose a gown by Erin Claire who lives in Noosa. Getting to meet with the designer to do my fittings was something really special and I valued that experience more than you will ever know. Almost makes me inspired to become a Fashion Designer myself haha.”
What did you love most about your White Lily experience?
“Hunting for the perfect dress was made so easy with White Lily, I had been to a few different stores before to try on dresses and just didn’t have a great experience. I gave it a few months and came across White Lily. The staff were great the experience was so effortless. Francesca was very accommodating and easy-going… from booking in the appointment to rescheduling from Covid to picking up my dress it was a great seamless experience.”
The Power of Positive Thought
Although Tara and Zach’s plans weren’t directly affected by the Covid restrictions, the couple wasn’t left without concern on whether their day would go ahead as planned. With ever-changing restrictions, Tara made sure to hold on to positive thoughts: “…the worrying that the event would even happen played hugely on our minds but made us so much more grateful for the day and the support system we have around us. My advice to brides would be the power of positive thought will help you see the good in not so good situations.”
Tara’s favourite thing about being married
Since planning a wedding can be stressful, to say the least, Tara is now looking forward to not having to worry about lockdowns or other inconveniences that could get in the way of marrying the love of her life. Tara and Zach are also excited to see what the world has in stall for them.

Dee-Jay & Luke’s Contemporary Country Wedding
28th June, 2021 | by AleraNothing is sweeter than a good old high school love story, which is why we loved reading about how this week’s White lily bride met her now-husband Luke. After glancing over to one another during their daily year twelve form class, Dee-Jay couldn’t help but feel the sparks. Yet, it wasn’t until the couple graduated, that Luke finally took a leap of faith and asked Dee-Jay out on a date. Eight years have gone by since and here we are!
A Proposal Under the Lucky Tree
“We were holidaying in Thailand with some friends. It was our four-year anniversary and instead of having a lovely romantic dinner with just us two, Luke organised dinner with our friends. They let me pick the place to eat, so I ultimately picked one along the beach to have a beautiful view and after dinner, we can walk along the beach. There was one moment when fireworks went off by strangers and I thought that Luke would purpose but once they finished & nothing happened I pushed the thought away and strolled on. Luke said, “let’s get a photo under the lucky tree?” Getting our friends to take photos, they were all in on this. there was nothing special about this tree at all yet once we got under it, Luke kicked a glass bottle. Once he picked it up, I saw there was a little paper scroll inside… As soon as I was reading ‘will you marry me?’ Luke was on one knee in the sand asking me to marry him! I said Yes under some tears when he opened the box the wrong way and the ring fell out. We were glad to find it and have a laugh… four years on and we are FINALLY MARRIED.“
Contemporary Simplistic Country
What would a country wedding be without a few too many drinks, a good old boogie, and your favourite crowd? “We aimed for an ultimate party but yet it was our wedding. Relaxed, casual, stress-free, and a whole lot of fun – it was all of that and more. We ate pizza, we drank too much, and danced too hard!“ Dee-Jay and Luke’s wedding day wasn’t only exactly what they imagined, but it was also as stress-free as possible: “Why stress about all the little details of table settings and styling when that doesn’t really matter. Everyone is there to celebrate two people coming together…. whatever happens is meant to be. The less stress you have the more fun you have on your day!” Walking down the aisle with her daughter, Dee-Jay couldn’t have been happier with how her special day turned out.
How Covid Changed Dee-Jay’s Wedding for the Better
Who could have known that a global pandemic would change a wedding for the better? Despite the frustration and inconveniences of the unknown, Dee-Jay was able to create a wedding that was even more magical, than previously planned: “Covid has been pleasing for us as we went from a winter wedding to a summer/autumn wedding. It gave me more time to get into the dress, as I ended up falling pregnant three months after I bought my dress. Instead of a grazing table, we had grazing boxes for each couple which was an absolute hit with our guests…” On top of that, Dee-Jay and Luke were able to source vendors, that they didn’t even know about, pre-covid. With businesses upping their Instagram game during the pandemic, Dee-Jay found an array of great vendors online.
Dee-Jay’s Dream Wedding Dress
Although Dee-Jay bought her dream Pronovias dress two years prior to her wedding, our White Lily bride loved it just as much as she did when she first tried it on: “After two years I still loved my dress. It was completely different from what I thought I was going to wear… my dress made me feel soooo beautiful on the day. I loved the bottom of my dress how the tulle made it feel so dreamy and then went into the most beautiful big train…”
What made your White Lily Couture experience special for you?
“All the staff members are truly amazing and they cater from all different styles to small/big sizes which I love… I had Lisa for my consult and she was absolutely amazing – cannot fault her. You could tell she really cared about you and how you felt in the dress you had on…You could tell she was listening. I was lucky to buy my dress on the first visit and it was only by chance of seeing it on another bride. Once I tried the same dress on I absolutely fell in love, even Lisa told me this is the dress/style she would have dressed me in if I asked at the beginning of the appointment.”
Life as Mr. and Mrs.
After over eight years of dating, and four years of planning, Dee-Jay and Luke finally became husband and wife. It is no surprise that the couple was over the moon to finally share the same last name and move onto the next chapter of their lives: “… I don’t know what it is but I love that I get to be a Mrs ‘Ash’ as well as calling my partner husband. . Nothing has really changed as getting married was sealing what we have created over the last 8 years… Planning a wedding has taught me to let go a lot which has helped with married life… love, have fun, and create new memories.”
Being married means coming together as one.

Alexandra and John’s Elegant Gabbinbar Homestead Wedding
21st June, 2021 | by AleraPure elegance was on our minds when first getting a glimpse of this week’s White Lily bride Alexandra and husband John’s beautiful wedding images. White roses, lush greenery, and flowing champagne made the Brisbane couple’s Gabbinbar Homestead wedding as glamorous as ever. Not only was their special day one to remember, but the way these two lovebirds met in 2016 kind of reminded us of a movie…
“I was a private nanny to a beautiful family who had twins… It was the twins’ third birthday party and when I arrived, I was introduced to their Uncle John. I had one look at him and thought he was absolutely gorgeous! That was in 2016. John and I paths wouldn’t cross again until the following year when I was invited to his mum’s birthday party. I was nannying the twins all day and then his mum’s birthday party was held at the twins’ house. I didn’t know John was attending so I was just in work clothes, covered in paint from craft with the twins earlier in the day. John walked in and I got butterflies. We couldn’t take our eyes off each other all night and conversation flowed!”
The Proposal
With a wedding so gorgeous and thoughtful, it is no surprise that Alexandra and John’s proposal story was just as beautiful. Just short of two years ago, our White Lily couple went on a family holiday to Europe. As you do, Alexandra and John went on a scenic cruise from Amsterdam to Switzerland. Cruising through the country of love, John got down on one knee: ”…Unbeknownst to me, John had organised with the gentleman running the cruise to clear the top deck. John asked if I could wear his favourite dress of mine for formal night, which I did. He invited me up to the outdoor top deck and proposed to me on the canals in France! I was so happy, shocked, and excited and I course said yes.”

“Formal and elegant“. Those were the two words on Alexandra’s mind when putting together her dream wedding. And she nailed it! Captured by The Finches, their Gabbinbar Homestead wedding was the perfect combination of a formal and romantic setting. With fairy lights and fireworks, Alexandra and John were able to celebrate their love at its fullest.“A vendor that we are over the moon happy about is our videographers…The job they did filming our wedding day is pure perfection!” We couldn’t agree more.
Beaded Perfection
Zavana Couture is known for their intricate beading and fine details, which is why THEIRRY was the perfect dress for Alexandra’s elegant dream wedding. The luxurious mermaid gown with plunging neckline was a true showstopper: “The thing I loved most about my white lily gown was the detail of the beading! Oh my gosh! My dress was glamorous! Every single person commented on how STUNNING my dress was! I felt so elegant in it!”
Alexandra’s Advice to Future Brides
“Surround yourself with positive people….” A lesson that is so valuable in all aspects of life was something that immediately popped into Alexandra’s mind upon asking her for wedding planning advice: “I noticed it would really get me down when people would make comments like “oh. Your wedding probably won’t even go ahead.” Instead I listened to the ones closest to me, and there was nothing but positivity. We ended up having a perfect wedding with no restrictions!”
Married Couple Things
“My favourite things about being married is knowing we are married! It’s something I’ve wanted for so long! I love calling John my husband and I love being introduced as his wife. New chapter for us is starting a family and trying for baby Kearney :)”

Jasmine & Steve’s Dreamy Hinterland Wedding
14th June, 2021 | by AleraIt was love at first sight for this week’s White Lily bride Jasmine and her partner Steve. These two high school sweethearts met eight years ago, and to this day, still give each other butterflies: “the good kind”. They celebrated their love surrounded by family, friends, and the hinterlands of the lush Tweed Valley.
Tell us the deets – Who proposed and how?
“After eight years of dating, Steve finally decided to propose…” And it was perfect! Jasmine’s partner planned a beautiful surprise weekend away at a hidden cabin in the Sunshine Coast hinterlands. Little did she know he had the best surprise of all still in-store. “While we were away Steve hired the One Tree Hill property at the Sunshine Coast for a picnic and proposed at sunset. It was very romantic, and to this day still gives me butterflies (Good butterflies). It was simply perfect.”

Jasmine and Steve’s wedding was definitely one of those days we wish we could have been part of the ‘on-the-day’ vendor crew. From the confetti to the champagne, and, of course, the love these two share – they brought to life what they always envisioned: a modern minimalist hinterland wedding, surrounded by family, friends, and great music.

Both Figtree Pictures and Michael Vos Music were “simply amazing.” Alice exceeded their expectations and “captured everything we had envisioned.” Michael’s music was the perfect blend of romance and party: “his music not only gave me chills but kept everyone on the dance floor.” Jasmin and Steve really couldn’t recommend these vendors enough to future brides-to-be!
What was the most memorable part of your wedding day?
Upon askin Jasmin about her all-time favourite wedding day memories, she remembers “Walking down the aisle and seeing Steve’s face.” Even by just looking at their ceremony photos, you could really feel the love in the air. With a backdrop as beautiful as ever, their Mt Warning wedding was truly magical.
The Dress
Jasmine’s White Lily gown was “simply perfect.” She wore Olive by Wedding Societe, a stunning off-the-shoulder gown with ethereal charm. With its bohemian flair and romantic lace, it’s a match made in heaven with the hinterland wedding she’d always envisioned. “I loved the detail of the lace, especially on the bodice. I felt so secure and comfortable in my dress.” We were in love!
Nothing makes us smile more than hearing about our brides’ experience finding their dream dress here at White Lily: “The girls were so lovely and made me feel so comfortable when trying on dresses, extremely helpful and informative.”
Jasmine’s Advice
Our White Lily couples wedding plans weren’t smooth sailing due to Covid postponing their June wedding to March the following year. Although tough to accept at first, Jasmine took it in stride. Her valuable advice for future brides: “Enjoy the ride, things constantly pop up that do not go to plan. Learning to not let them get you upset but to instead look at how the situation can be fixed or what is the next step to take. No matter what happens just remember at the end of the day you’re marrying your best friend and that’s all that really matters.”
Complete the sentence: Being married means I get to call my best friend my husband….Calling Steve my husband still makes me giggle. I love knowing I got to marry my best friend and I get to ride this crazy life with him as my husband.

Lizzy & JP – A Boho Luxe Byron Wedding
7th June, 2021 | by AleraA boho-luxe theme with a European feel was on this week’s White Lily bride’s mind when planning her wedding in Byron Bay. Upon canceling her original plans of getting eloped in France, Lizzy and JP finally celebrated their love in an intimate and beautiful ceremony at Byron View Farm.
A Big Apple Love Story
Imagine looking at the view of New York’s skyline, turning around, and seeing the love of your life on one knee! Lizzy and JP’s proposal story has us dreaming of overseas trips: “JP proposed on a trip to the US in September 2019. He told me he had organised a nice dinner and we caught the ferry over to Long Island NY. We stopped and looked at the view of New York skyline, took some photos etc and then when I turned around he had got down on 1 knee and started saying all these beautiful things, and had organised a professional photographer. Can confirm we were both in tears!”
European Feel
It is no surprise that travel lovers Lizzy and JP originally planned on getting married overseas. With Covid throwing a spanner in the works, our White Lily couple was determined on bringing the European feel to their new location in Byron Bay: “Since we weren’t able to travel, we were looking for a European feel with a timeless, boho luxe, elegant, fun wedding with a lot of beautiful white, dusty pink and neutral details.” Not only was their special day embellished with beautiful decor, but it was also filled with memories the couple will cherish forever; Lizzy specifically remembers walking down the aisle and having her first dance with her now-husband JP in the rain – so dreamy!

Lizzy’s Dream Wedding Dress
A modern minimalist’s dream – Lizzy wore OBERON by Pronovias and absolutely stole the show! Oberon’s minimalist yet elegant mikado fabric made the dramatic train pop, creating the most astonishing silhouette. The button details on the back completed Lizzy’s dream bridal look and made her feel beautiful on her special day. Upon asking what she loved most about her White Lily experience, she reminisces about her Luxe Lounge experience: “We had booked the Luxe Lounge experience and wow it didn’t disappoint! Being able to bring my bridesmaids and my mum to the fitting as well as enjoying some bubbly and treats was so special…The girls were amazing, professional, understanding and so much fun to work with.”
Speaking From Experience
We love asking our brides for planning advice and often hear the same words: don’t stress over the little details: “Try not to stress over things you can’t control, remind yourself that this day is about you and your other half so just ENJOY every single moment, don’t worry about anyone else and have fun! It will be the best day of your life.”
