Working in the wedding industry has its perks. Not only do we get to dress our gorgeous brides for their special day, but we also get to work with a group of amazing wedding industry professionals, who all work their magic to make wedding dreams come true. Connecting as a business and creating bonds with other wedding vendors helps us to understand our industry from all angles. It’s almost a holistic approach to making the perfect day truly perfect. We team up, we bond, and we create; but most importantly, we share meaningful insights into what our brides truly want for their 2021 and 2022 weddings.
A First For Us, With Many To Come
Last Wednesday, the 28th of April, we hosted our very first ‘What’s The Tea – A Conversation with WLC’ networking evening. Understanding that networking events can be daunting, to say the least, we created a concept based on genuine conversations, comfort, and honest thoughts. A place to sit back, relax, and have a meaningful chat. It was all about connecting with other businesses, sharing each other’s ups and downs, and passing on key learnings from everyone’s wedding industry journey. And all of that whilst sipping on cocktails provided by the girls from Mr Consistent and demolishing delicious cupcakes from Petal and Peach.
A huge thank you goes out to AVIDEAS, who turned our cozy boutique into the perfect ‘sips & dips’ location – Their dining setup from The Boxd Society tied in perfectly with the rest of our decor and created a truly magical atmosphere. Another special thank you goes out to Tahlia and Jesse from Wylde Folk Studio, who captured the evening, so we could share our memories with all of you.
Your Wedding Vendor Shortcut
Last Wednesday night truly was an evening to remember and we couldn’t have been happier with the outcome. Not only did we get to connect with some amazing businesses but we also get to share a list of approved wedding vendors for you:

This year, at White Lily Couture, we are starting things off with a bang! Having operated since 2013, we feel like we know a thing or two about the wedding industry yet, we are yearning for more meaningful connections. As a result, we want to open our arms (and store!) to wedding industry professionals.
So, Tell Us – What’s the Tea?
Here at White Lily Couture, we are creating our very own networking event! The idea came about as we realised that this year, we want to create a platform for wedding industry professionals. In doing so, we want to give Brisbane and surrounding-based businesses a way to broaden their scope through meaningful connections and make room for new business opportunities. Most importantly, we want to start conversations that are worthwhile your precious time! Long story short, that’s how “What’s the Tea?” came to be.
We welcome industry professionals from all fields, including photographers, florists, makeup and hair stylists, event planners, venues, and more. Make your 2021 the year of growth, meaningful connections, and, of course, a touch of champagne! The bigger details are yet to come, so keep an eye out for more updates.
If you work in the wedding industry, we want to hear from you! Tell us how you got started, why you love what you do, or even just a simple hello. Our DMs are open or send us an email to firstname.lastname@example.org. We can’t wait to hear from you!

The White Lily Couture Real Bride Revolution started earlier this month, and we could not be happier with what we have achieved so far.
So what have we been up to and what are we trying to accomplish with this campaign?
The thought of searching for a wedding dress and trying on different gowns can be perceived as a quite daunting experience. However, here at White Lily Couture in Brisbane, we are all about feeling comfortable, welcome, and most importantly beautiful.
So to really communicate what The Real Bride Revolution is about, we have been working with individuals of different sizes, ethnicities, and backgrounds to help us change the perception of the bridal industry, together.
At the start of this month, we welcomed Eve (Instagram @evechantal). Eve is a curve model and an advocate for body inclusivity. She showed our brides that size doesn’t matter and that you are worthy of wearing the dress of your dreams. “…It is crazy because I’m a curvy girl, and I never expected to have all of these options to try on to find the perfect fit for my wedding day.”
In the past, she has had negative experiences and always thought that she had to limit her expectations and wasn’t worthy of finding the perfect dress for her. “I remember going shopping for a formal dress and it was a nightmare. I tried on so many dresses and none of them fit me. I went to eight stores and bought the first one that actually fit me. It was so depressing.” Coming to White Lily Couture, she was able to try on countless wedding dresses, without having to alter her taste in any way. She quickly realised that shopping for a bridal gown is an extremely positive experience and walked away feeling beautiful and confident “…I feel like a queen, like a princess. I feel beautiful, and I feel confident.”
The following week, we welcomed Tarah (Instagram @tarahelizabeth_), who showed us that self-love and confidence come from a place within and that being your own kind of beautiful is key to finding the perfect dress. “I can’t even begin to say how incredible this experience was.” On her Social Media platforms, Tarah is all about communicating the importance of mental health and adding a sense of realness to the content that is displayed online.
Especially when it comes to bridal wear, women are often afraid of not being able to fulfill certain expectations: “We all have different expectations and we have these ideas that certain dresses won’t look a certain way. But each and every one of us was blown away”. By the end of the day, Tarah and her two friends Ruby and Daisy walked away with a completely different perception of what the bridal experience is going to feel like. “I can honestly say that coming here, we all felt like queens and princesses.”
As part of our Real Bride Revolution, we also had the honour of welcoming Cassandra (Instagram: @cassandraallen_) to our Brisbane boutique. Cassandra works for a modeling agency, which specialises in diversifying the industry and showcasing beauty in all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities. Cassandra and her friends had never tried on wedding dresses before, which made this experience even more special. They were in tears when they saw the gowns on each other.
We were blessed to be part of such an intimate moment and loved every second of their visit here at White Lily Couture. Cassandra and her girls walked away feeling more beautiful than ever: “I’ve had the most extravagant time of my life. Every dress is beyond exceptional. And the fit and the company that I just experienced was amazing. I cannot express how wonderful it has been today.”

Mother’s Day is quickly approaching, and given the current global situation (yes, the dreaded “C” word) looking for the perfect gift has become considerably more difficult. If you’re anything like us at team White Lily, then I’m sure your usual plans of generations uniting to spend the day together somewhere special need to be reconsidered.

With the arrival of the festive season, we thought it would be so special to share some of our love and bridal magic with those in need.
That’s why this year we have partnered with The Brisbane Basket Brigade to support some of the most marginalised members of the Brisbane community.
Since 1995, throughout the Christmas season, the Basket Brigade has worked with grassroots organisations to deliver food, clothing, toys and hope to those who need it most – children, the elderly, hungry and homeless.
In support of this amazing charity, with each gown purchased in the month of December, we will be donating a basket’s-worth of essentials and Christmas goodies to a local in need.

We are so lucky to collaborate with some of the best in the business, so we thought…hey! Why don’t we share some of our favourite vendors with you!
Introducing Harley & Ainsley from Bulb Creative
Armed with their incredible attention for detail, distinctive aesthetic and – best of all – each other, Harley and Ainsley are what we like to call a power photography couple! Who better to photograph love, than this husband and wife duo?
In addition to being exceptional photographers, the talented pair also both have bachelor degrees under their belts! Harley completed his in Primary Education, and Ainsley completed hers in Nursing all while in the process of planning their own DIY wedding! After their wedding, they headed back to their respective “9 to 5s” and quickly realised there was a creative-shaped whole in both of their hearts, which lead to the creation of Bulb Creative. We had a sat down with them to find out more:
What is your favourite thing about what you do?
Working as a husband and wife duo for sure! We are so lucky to travel the world for our work. We have seen some amazing places and experienced so many “firsts” with each other. We also get to see so many different relationships and love stories which often reminds us why we fell in love in the first place. Our business is not only just a hobby that we get to share together, but it’s also like a baby to us, that we both get to nurture and watch grow together.
Do you have a favourite wedding? If so, what was it?
As well as weddings, we also shoot a lot of elopements with a team called the Elopement Collective. So for us, one our favourite couples was from an elopement that we shot photo and video for on top of Roys Peak in New Zealand. These two were just so ready to tie the knot and make an adventure out of it on the way. All they had was themselves, their suit and gown, a warm jacket and a helicopter to get us all up there. The simplicity of exchanging vows on top of a snow capped mountain, without any guests, or all the fuss and worries of a typical wedding day, was just magical. It really put the focus on why they were making a life commitment to each other which made their chemistry electric, and that’s all we could ask for from our couples!
What is the most interesting thing you have experienced as a wedding photographer?
Seeing the different dynamics between family members, brides expectations and the pressures of executing the perfect wedding day. Before we started this business, we had no idea how to plan our own wedding and we fell into the same trap. There are so many elements of the day that you just do to keep family happy, or because that’s just what everyone does at weddings. But when you cut back all the fluff and traditions and rules…. it’s literally just a day to celebrate you and your new life partner. That’s it! Keep it simple and about what matters to YOU.
Your top tips for brides on the hunt for a photographer?
1. First tip is to figure out why you actually want a photographer. There are so many different styles, prices and level of experiences out there. And just like with most things in life, you get what you paid for. So, if having memories to look back on is really important to you, then spend the time to find someone who’s work you really enjoy and be prepared to be more flexible with your budget than you might think. Remember that these memories will be forever documented by the person that you end up hiring.
2. Second tip is to make sure your photographer is fully transparent with what they offer and how they work and what the end product will be. We have heard horror stories where brides have booked a photographer that was super cheap, or their portfolio didn’t show a range of different lighting situations, or they weren’t great at communicating and answering emails… all of these are red flags for who not to hire.

It’s always a great day when something a little wonderful and out-of-the-ordinary occurs. We recently experienced just such a day when one of our beautiful brides, Sevilay prepared an extra special surprise for her bridesmaids!
Not satisfied with simply ‘popping the question’ to her bridesmaids, local creative, Sev decided to propose to her bridesmaids in a totally unique and fabulous way. When booking her first bridal appointment, she got in touch with us to see if she could arrange her extra special moment. Upon hearing about Sev’s planned surprise, we decided that our Luxe Lounge was the perfect spot! With bubbles, Fentiman’s Rose Lemonade and a beautiful setup, the room was set.
Sev ‘proposed’ to each of her bridesmaids with an individual long-stemmed white rose encased in a clear acrylic box engraved with their names as well as the sweetest little cookies from Petite Crumb. Each heart cookie was complete with pink watercolour and gold foil as well as the question, “Will you be my bridesmaid?”
With squeals of delight emanating from the Luxe Lounge, it’s safe to say that the plan went well!
Can you think of a cuter way to propose to your girls?! Because we can’t.
