Shopping for a wedding dress is a different kind of mission. Let’s face it, it is probably the most important outfit we will ever buy. On top of that, it’s a huge investment, which means the pressure is on. In turn, we brides, want to know what’s hot in 2021 / 2022, right?
Yes, even if our wedding is in 2022, we should most definitely start thinking about our dream bridal look – time flies when we’re busy organising your dream wedding day.
Don’t worry – we’ve got you!
After intensive research and hundreds of hours of browsing through wedding magazines, bridal fashion articles, and thousands of Instagram posts and Pinterest pins, we have curated some of the hottest and most fashionable wedding dress trends for 2021 and 2022.
So, let’s dive straight in!
Every Superwoman Needs A Cape
Although this one might not be for everyone, bridal designers sure know how to make us feel like a superhero. Capes have become a huge deal in the bridal world and here is what we love about them.
They add an element of drama
They stand out from the crowd and scream fashion-forward. Nobody is going to forget your dress and your wifey or hubby will be swept off their feet. A sleeve calls for an unforgettable entrance with loads of drama.
They add coverage, without limiting your ability to move
Many of us don’t like feeling too exposed. Instead of going with a sleeved option, a cape is a great way of adding some coverage, without having to deal with the movement restrictions a sleeve may come with.
Transformable Looks A.k.a. Two-In-One
Speaking of dresses with capes, wedding dress designers are focusing on creating more versatile looks than ever. With a few simple add-ons, our brides can transform their look within minutes. Who said that you needed multiple dresses for your wedding day?
No need to double your budget
If you’re on a lower budget, you don’t need to sacrifice your wishes of having multiple wedding looks.
Less commitment. More options
Don’t want to commit to one look? Make last-minute adjustments and wear what you feel most comfortable in on your big day!
Puffy sleeves, tiered skirts, ruffles like there is no tomorrow, and we are 100 percent here for it. Go bold or go home, it’s your big day! This trend most definitely isn’t for everyone, but it’s also not one to forget.
They add a fun element
The creative and beautiful designs add a fun element to your bridal look
Edgy yet Simplistic
Ever struggled to find the right balance between allowing you to combine your love for simplistic fabrics with edgy designs? You should jump on that train!
So here you have it: in 2021 we’re getting out of our cage and committing to bigger and bolder wedding dress designs and bridal looks. We’ve been sitting at home, hiding from the world, for too long. It’s time to shine.
2nd December, 2020 | by Celine
December is here, so it’s time for our yearly Christmas Charity event! We all know that Christmas is about giving back. So, every year we are dedicated to giving back to those in need. Last year our team contributed to the Brisbane Basket Brigade, which is a non-profit organisation that provides food and gifts for people that need a hand.
This year we have teamed up with GIVIT, a wonderful organisation that allows us to donate a variety of items to those in need! We thought it would be an amazing opportunity to get You involved! GIVIT allows us to donate items on an ongoing basis, which means that we will be able to donate a little something, with each dress sold, in December. You even get to select which item will be donated; all you need to do is say “Yes to the Dress” and pick an envelope out of our “wish-box”! Ready to book your December appointment?
It’s all about doubling the happiness!

Who, When, Where
Located in one of Queensland’s hidden gems, we put together a styled shoot with some of the most talented vendors, within the wedding industry. The fairytale-like charm at the heritage-listed Gabbinbar Homestead in Toowoomba added to the princess vibes of the shoot and created a unique atmosphere. Looking back on this beautiful March day, we were able to put together something so special, it’s hard to know where to even begin.
Our couture wedding dresses were captured in the most beautiful way by Lauren Olivia Photography. Lauren is an amazing photographer, who just knows how to translate precious moments into the most gorgeous photographs. The lighting and colours on this day were absolutely magical, which resulted in breathtaking imagery. Out of this world would be an understatement.
We also got the chance to work with Wander and Follow Images. Joel created a film, which we will cherish and obsess over forever. You HAVE TO check it out!
When selecting the gowns, we wanted to add a modern twist to the old-world style of this bridal shoot. Working with traditional fabrications like tulle and lace allowed us to incorporate modern designs. LARISA by Pronovias combines a princess-like tulle skirt with modern ruffles. The sheerness of the semi-illusion tulle on ROSSANA also added a modern touch, whilst complementing the classic theme of the day.
What we loved most about this shoot? Something about the style of this shoot felt like it stepped straight out of a Disney film or a classic novel. The kind of wedding you would look back on and still be head-over-heels in love with every choice you made.
Styled with burnished silver, crystal glassware, and spring garden-style florals, this old-world styling felt incredibly romantic and fully realised – allowing the day to center around its true meaning – a celebration of love. Can’t you just picture yourself driving off into the sunset in a classic cream Bentley alongside the tuxedo-clad man of your wildest dreams? We truly can’t stop thinking about this day and would love to do it over, and over, and over again.
Scroll down to view the photos and see for yourself! Aren’t they just beautiful?

2020 BRISBANE WEDDING DRESS SALE
16th September, 2020 | by Celine
The White Lily Couture Real Bride Revolution started earlier this month, and we could not be happier with what we have achieved so far.
So what have we been up to and what are we trying to accomplish with this campaign?
The thought of searching for a wedding dress and trying on different gowns can be perceived as a quite daunting experience. However, here at White Lily Couture in Brisbane, we are all about feeling comfortable, welcome, and most importantly beautiful.
So to really communicate what The Real Bride Revolution is about, we have been working with individuals of different sizes, ethnicities, and backgrounds to help us change the perception of the bridal industry, together.
At the start of this month, we welcomed Eve (Instagram @evechantal). Eve is a curve model and an advocate for body inclusivity. She showed our brides that size doesn’t matter and that you are worthy of wearing the dress of your dreams. “…It is crazy because I’m a curvy girl, and I never expected to have all of these options to try on to find the perfect fit for my wedding day.”
In the past, she has had negative experiences and always thought that she had to limit her expectations and wasn’t worthy of finding the perfect dress for her. “I remember going shopping for a formal dress and it was a nightmare. I tried on so many dresses and none of them fit me. I went to eight stores and bought the first one that actually fit me. It was so depressing.” Coming to White Lily Couture, she was able to try on countless wedding dresses, without having to alter her taste in any way. She quickly realised that shopping for a bridal gown is an extremely positive experience and walked away feeling beautiful and confident “…I feel like a queen, like a princess. I feel beautiful, and I feel confident.”
The following week, we welcomed Tarah (Instagram @tarahelizabeth_), who showed us that self-love and confidence come from a place within and that being your own kind of beautiful is key to finding the perfect dress. “I can’t even begin to say how incredible this experience was.” On her Social Media platforms, Tarah is all about communicating the importance of mental health and adding a sense of realness to the content that is displayed online.
Especially when it comes to bridal wear, women are often afraid of not being able to fulfill certain expectations: “We all have different expectations and we have these ideas that certain dresses won’t look a certain way. But each and every one of us was blown away”. By the end of the day, Tarah and her two friends Ruby and Daisy walked away with a completely different perception of what the bridal experience is going to feel like. “I can honestly say that coming here, we all felt like queens and princesses.”
As part of our Real Bride Revolution, we also had the honour of welcoming Cassandra (Instagram: @cassandraallen_) to our Brisbane boutique. Cassandra works for a modeling agency, which specialises in diversifying the industry and showcasing beauty in all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities. Cassandra and her friends had never tried on wedding dresses before, which made this experience even more special. They were in tears when they saw the gowns on each other.
We were blessed to be part of such an intimate moment and loved every second of their visit here at White Lily Couture. Cassandra and her girls walked away feeling more beautiful than ever: “I’ve had the most extravagant time of my life. Every dress is beyond exceptional. And the fit and the company that I just experienced was amazing. I cannot express how wonderful it has been today.”

Let’s talk about wedding dress trends!
Although we all want our bridal gown to be as unique as possible, it is always interesting to see what bridal trends are fashionable at the moment and which wedding dress designs we will see more of in 2021, right?
Living in a world that is constantly evolving, bridal designers are sure to have a few extravagant wedding dress designs up their sleeves for 2021. So, let’s have a look at what wedding dresses are popular for 2021 weddings:
Ever heard of glitter tulle? It’s a thang – and we are kind of loving it! This particular trend definitely requires you to let go of some of the traditional expectations of a bridal gown. Your wedding is a party – and we’re here to dance! This trend is not only super fun but also extremely show-stopping AND photographable. Trust us, we always have way too much fun with these in our boutique!
Sheer – She’s Airy
2021 definitely isn’t the year to be shy. It’s time for you to show off your beauty. Even if that means wearing semi-illusion tulle and other sheer fabrications. Adding a cheeky hot pant underneath your sheer skirt creates a futuristic, yet elegant look, that will sweep everyone off their feet. It’s an unexpected yet modern approach of a bridal gown. Hence, designers are incorporating more of it into their new collections.
Once again, designers are taking it to the max. Whether you are looking at Zavana Couture, Atelier Pronovias, or Nicole Couture, designers are showcasing their beaded dresses left, right, and center. People are craving the luxe feel, enhanced by the weight of the beading. In turn, designers are leaning towards extravagant, beaded appliqués.
Multiple layers, tiered skirts, and a mix of different fabrications; designers aren’t afraid of making the most out of their ball gown creations. Ball gowns aren’t just becoming more popular, in 2021, but they are also bigger than ever. FARRAH and CLOSE by Pronovias are both prime examples of what ball gown heaven looks like.
Mixing Minimal with Opulent
Imagine a fitted gown with puffy sleeves. Super playful, yet extremely elegant. Adding a fun element to your fitted gown doesn’t only add that extra something, but it also elevates your look. It creates something that is so unique, people will remember for a long time.
Who doesn’t love flowers? We know it, you know it, designers know it. Floral appliqués have been and remain to be a front runner in the bridal gown industry. However, 2021 is going to show a few different ways of incorporating floral appliqués. Tattoo lace, as well as embroidered tulle, seem to be on the rise, creating stunning flower-field-inspired looks.
Long story short, 2021 is a year of innovation and extravagant designs, and we can’t wait to see our Brisbane brides rock their dresses on their wedding day.

The Perfect Fit Is You
Imagine living in a world, that accepts you for who you are. That lets you embrace your beauty without reducing your worth. 2020 is a year of change and we are ready to take self-love, self-acceptance, and body positivity to the next level.
When talking about body positivity and self-love, we often don’t even think about the bridal industry. However, your wedding day is one of the most special days of your life. It is all about YOU. YOUR life. YOUR love. YOUR journey. It is on that day, that you feel like the spotlight is on you only, which means that you want to feel beautiful.
Time To Let Go Of Preconceptions
Finding a wedding dress and feeling comfortable in our own skin can be extremely challenging. Ever since social media has become such a present part of our life, we seem to struggle with understanding what is real and what is not. Browsing through Instagram or Pinterest inspiration has put unrealistic norms into our heads, which means that we are now prone to believe that wedding dresses are for specific body types only.
As a result, too often women walk into our boutique with preconceptions about how they look and what they ‘can and can’t wear.’ Too many women believe they aren’t good enough. They don’t believe they are allowed to have the confidence to rock the wedding dress of their dreams. It honestly breaks our hearts!
Real Bride Revolution
With our “Real Bride Revolution” campaign, we want to spread the word and make you understand that the perfect fit is you. We want to encourage you to let go of your scepticism, your fear of rejection, and everything society has taught you for too many years. Bridal wear has come a long way and it is no longer about being a certain size, ethnicity, or being a certain anything. It is all about being yourself and making your dream of finding ‘The One’ come true.
As mentioned above, Social Media has a huge impact on what we perceive as ‘perfect’. In order for us to spread the message and enable you to love yourself for who you are, we are dedicated to showing more diverse content, across all of our platforms.
Here at White Lily Couture, we welcome you, we listen, and we support you. We want you to pursue your dream of finding the perfect dress and feeling confident in your own skin.

Let’s Talk Wedding Invites: 4 Fun Ways To Nail Your Invites in 2021!
Acrylic Wedding Invites
Do you want to stand out from the crowd? With acrylic invites, you are definitely stepping up your game. Your guests will 100% LOVE these! So what even are they and what makes acrylic wedding invites so special?
The wording is printed on the clear acrylic surface, which gives your invites a modern and minimalist, yet unique look. The thick and shatterproof material is extremely sturdy, which means you don’t have to worry about your invites getting ruined in the mail. If you are looking for that “wow factor”, acrylic wedding invites are the way to go.
Downside? They are definitely more expensive than your traditional invites. It really depends on your budget and how much you can spare for your invites. There are less expensive versions like vellum, which is a translucent material but isn’t as thick as acrylic.
It is 2020 – It would be rude not to mention E-invites!
Since technology has become part of pretty much EVERY aspect of our lives, sending paperless wedding invitations is definitely something you should consider.
Instead of printing hundreds of invitations and sending them manually, you now only need to hit a button, and off they go! We’ve already got to deal with a million other things when planning our wedding, so why not stress less about the invites? They are not only more sustainable but also cost less and are way more reliable. Instead of having to worry about your invites getting lost in the mail and people not actually saving the date, you can just re-send reminders and keep everyone in the loop with updates.
P.s. You don’t need to be tech-savvy. There are a number of online providers in Australia that deal with designing your invites and taking care of all other things tech:
Paperless Wedding: Free E-Invites + Wedding Website plans (3-week free trial)
Greenvelope: Effortless Online Invitations and RSVP Tracking
paperlust: Get a free matching wedding website for selected designs.
Only downside: WE LOVE OUR STATIONARY! The feel of holding your wedding invite is definitely something a lot of brides don’t want to miss out on.
Let’s get creative! Calligraphy isn’t only absolutely stunning, but also super fun. We got to work with The Pleasantry, who showed us how to turn words into art. If you are wanting to add a romantic element or dramatic statement, calligraphy invites are just right for you. The hand-lettered calligraphy also makes them extremely personal and unique.
Downside: Calligraphy is time-consuming. If you do them yourself, they can take a long time. Depending on your skills and guest list, you might want to outsource. But even then, most calligraphers schedule two-week turnarounds.
If you are going for the minimalist look, you will probably want to miss out on this one. Boxed wedding invitation scream GLAM! They absolutely stand out from the crowd and give your guests a real feel of what to expect from your wedding day. Nobody is going to want to miss your special day!
Downside: Boxed invitations are definitely not a budget option and you should always keep your increased shipping costs in mind.

What is your wedding invitation going to look like?
13th July, 2020 | by Celine
Shopping for a wedding dress isn’t always smooth sailing. To make sure that you can enjoy the whole process, we’ve summarised 8 super common mistakes, you should avoid at all costs. At the end of the day, finding ‘The One’ should be a fun and exciting experience. With our tips in hand, you are all set to find the dress of your dreams without making any mistakes along the way.
So let’s get right to it.
Mistake #1: Wrong timing
When shopping for a wedding dress, you should always keep the right timing in mind. Although picking a dress can be done in a day, there is a whole process involved when it comes to making and altering the dress for you. “So when should I start looking for a dress?” We recommend starting shopping 10 months before your wedding day.
Mistake #2: “I am going to lose 10 kg before the wedding, so I’ll order a size smaller.”
We love setting goals. We’re all about setting goals. HOWEVER, when it comes to ordering a wedding dress, going a size smaller because you think you will lose weight before the wedding, is a big NO-NO! Your wedding dress is probably going to be the most expensive dress you will ever buy. It would be an absolute disaster, to get to the day of to only realise that your dress doesn’t fit. We’re not saying that we don’t believe in you; but altering your dress once you’ve reached your goal, is much safer!
Mistake #3: Bringing all of your friends and family to the appointment
We know. It’s tough. “Mum wants to come for sure, and if I bring Lisa, I also need to invite Rachel” and so on…It can be extremely tricky to keep your crew small. However, bringing along 10 people means that you’re going to be influenced by 10 different characters, who probably have extremely versatile tastes and opinions; and that can be hella confusing!
Mistake #4: Letting your loved ones take over the decision-making process
YOU are the one getting married. YOU are the one wearing the dress. And YOU should be the one making the decisions. Don’t let yourself get talked into something that you’re not. Take on advice, but don’t let anyone alter your taste. It’s YOUR day!
Mistake #5: Being too set on one style or not knowing what you’re after at all
Everybody is different. Every bum, every back, every bone. Unless you’ve tried on wedding dresses before, you might have no idea which style is going to suit you. Doing your research is great as long as you stay openminded. Your dream dress might be something you would have never looked at in the first place. However, knowing the rough direction can save a lot of time and confusion. Going into an appointment without knowing what you’re after at all, might leave you with 100 different dresses, not enough time, and way too much confusion! Do your research here.
Mistake #6: Shopping without context
Knowing what theme your wedding is going to be, makes all the difference. Are you getting married outside or inside? Are you getting married in a ballroom or out on a farm? Is it going to be The Great Gatsby or Twilight? The bottom line is: your dress needs to match the style of the wedding! Coming into an appointment without knowing your location or wedding theme, can leave you with a wrong dress choice. And nobody wants to buy two wedding dresses!
Mistake #7: Trying on too many gowns
It is kind of like going into a store and trying on different perfumes. It doesn’t take many different fragrances for your brain to turn into mush. By the time you discover the right “smell”, you can’t even tell what makes it unique anymore. The same thing happens when we try on too many wedding dresses. It gets to a stage, where your brain can’t process the different gowns and details that come with them. Keep your collection small!
Mistake #8: Being unrealistic with your budget
Trying on dresses that are out of our price range can be tempting. With all the excitement of finding ‘the one’ perfect dress for us, we might not be so strict on the budget we had in mind when first entering the store. It’s easy to forget about the bigger picture and all other costs involved, so make sure to think carefully before overstepping your budget. Remember, your wedding dress still needs to be altered and eventually dry cleaned and preserved. Keep all of those hidden costs in mind, when determining your budget.
