We all know that planning a wedding is far away from being a walk in the park. Things can easily become overwhelming. Especially, once the fun and excitement of the initial enjoyment are over.
Since we all know that getting a little help is great during stressful times, the girls from The Vow to be Chick have put together a list of resources to help you make the overall wedding planning process just a little bit easier.
So let’s take a closer look…
The Knot is a great overall wedding planning resource. It can act as your virtual wedding planner or even be used for more wedding planning resources. If you are looking for something more specific, you will have a good chance of finding it on their website. Yay! They also offer resources such as quizzes, which will help you to pick out your wedding theme and colour scheme. How fun! If you feel overwhelmed by those things and don’t know what to call your style, this is a great place to start!
Getting your groomsmen gift can be a second thought at times. You may not even remember that it’s needed until it is so close to the wedding date and it is then too late to find anything meaningful or special. Yikes! Groomsmen Gift Source is a great resource since it is filled with tons of different gift ideas. If you have a very diverse group of guys and you don’t know what is a good gift that they would all enjoy, use this resource even as just a place to start. this allows you to get ideas and even get the gifts directly from the same website.
Does your groom want to be really involved? Or do you want your groom to help with the wedding but don’t know where to start? the Black Tux is a wonderful resource for grooms specifically. It gives them resources for things that they can (and sometimes should) do when it comes to the wedding planning process, Things like picking out their suit and tuxedos, ties, bowties, shoes, etc. And even resources to help them with their groomsmen attire as well. It is a great place to use as a reference and for them to use a wedding planning guide of their own.
Let’s talk prints. Shutterfly is a great resource for when it comes to your wedding invites, thank you’s, RSVP’s, etc. They have lots of templates you can use, or you can upload your own design. Shutterfly is super user friendly and helpful. It can be stressful and time-consuming to create your own design, have them printed out on your own, and ensure the sizing is correct and everything is cut out neatly. Shutterfly takes all of that hassle away from you. All you need to do is pick your favourite template and colour scheme, add your images and dates, and order as many as you require.
If you are looking for a resource that you can use to mainly get ideas or inspiration from, then WhiskeyMade is your new best friend. Our bride of the week Ellie and her husband Jeff said their vows during an intimate ceremony in Wooloongabba, Brisbane. After meeting the “twenty-first-century way”, also known as “online”, the gorgeous couple was over the moon to finally commit to a lifetime of love together.
Just like many other 2020 weddings, Ellie and Jeff’s original schedule for the day had to be changed. When COVID hit, their plans of celebrating with 130 people, got canceled. Unfortunately, many of their loved ones lived interstate, which made it impossible for them to join Ellie and Jeff on their big day. However, the Brisbane couple decided to go ahead with an intimate ceremony, with only their closest friends and family in Woolloongabba “It was important to us to go ahead and get married when we could…” In the end, Ellie and Jeff got to celebrate their love with a total of 28 people. “While we missed many of our loved ones, we had the most wonderful day and we know they were with us in spirit.”
Although it was hard to pick just one favourite moment of their special day, Ellie says that the most memorable part of the day was the moment she and Jeff got to say their vows to each other. It’s the most intimate moments, we adore the most!
When we asked Ellie what she loved most about her experience at White Lily Couture, she said that the team and store itself “make you feel like you’re having your own ‘Say Yes to the Dress’ moment.” She was also accompanied by her bridesmaids which made the moment of finding ‘The One’ even more special. Ellie’s dream dress turned out to be PASIPHAE by Pronovias and it was everything she had hoped for. When we asked Ellie what she loved most about the gown, she referred to the sleeves and lace details: “I loved the intricate lace and the detail on the back too.” Ellie ended up looking absolutely stunning on her special day and we were so excited to be the ones who helped her to find her dream wedding gown.
Moving on to the next chapter of her life, Ellie leaves one piece of advice to all future brides, who are currently going through stressful times: “Take the pressure off yourself – plan something smaller if that suits you. Remember that the day is about your love for one another. When you take away all the ‘stuff’, the love shines through.” We couldn’t have said it any better. Always remember, it is your special day.
The freshly married Brisbane couple is now looking forward to many new adventures as Mr and Mrs and is excited to one day have a family of their own.

White Lily bride Hannah’s special day was raw, romantic, and filled with mountains of love. The Brisbane couple got to celebrate their love in an intimate ceremony with 24 of their closest family and friends at Hillstone St Lucia, followed by a fun and unique reception.
The way Hannah and her now-husband Ryan met makes us think that the universe definitely had a say in how it all played out. The Brisbane couple first met working for the same firm, where they both crossed paths many times, without actually getting to know each other “We both describe us meeting as a gravitational pull.” They finally connected during a work netball game: “From that moment life was a little different for both of us – I timed my tea breaks perfectly with his snack breaks in the kitchen (he thought this was such a “coincidence”)…” Eventually, Hannah and Ryan finally poured their hearts out to each other, on a night out, and fell in love. How is that for a cute love story?
When the couple got engaged in September 2019, they had no idea that COVID was going to put a spin on their big day. When planning her wedding, Hannah emphasised the importance of having a fun reception: “… we wanted a party, fun and bright vibe because it’s very us.” Hannah had already ticked off all big organisational things, only three months after their engagement; she didn’t want to have to stress, close to her wedding date. When COVID hit in March, Hannah and Ryan both kept “positive spirits” as they initially thought that their August plans wouldn’t be affected.
However, once the couple realised that restrictions wouldn’t ease before their special day, Hannah and Ryan started sitting down night after night to alter their plans: “We started by creating about 5 different guest lists depending on the restrictions that might be in place by the time our date came around.”Although there was no dancing, standing, or mingling, the couple managed to pull off a fun night with games, competitions, and lots of entertainment: “ We walked away from the day on a high and our guests had a blast. Huge credit goes to our venue for making all this possible…” Despite many upsetting lows and headaches during the planning process, Hannah is more than happy with how it all worked out.
To help other future brides, who are being affected by COVID restrictions, Hannah advises understanding the importance of communication: “Talk with your partner, I can’t stress communication enough during this time.”
When Hannah walked into our Brisbane Boutique, she was stunned by our bright and happy store. As soon as she walked in and showed us her inspiration board, Hannah felt like she was in good hands: “Connie. I have no words for her. She was such an incredible help; I showed her my inspiration board and she knew exactly what dresses to get off the rack that would suit me and that I’d love…” We pointed out AUGUST by Zavana Couture, which ended up being Hannah’s dream dress. “Once I put it on and stood in front of the mirror I laughed, I thought it was sooooo extra…but then I couldn’t stop thinking about it! I brought my mum and sister back, put August back on and all three of us teared up as we realised that it was actually perfect.” YAY!
Upon asking Hannah what her favourite part of the day was, she remembers walking down the aisle and looking at her soon to be husband Ryan: “The feeling before I started walking down the aisle and I spotted Ryan, I instantly teared up, had to steady myself and had insane butterflies. Looking at the love of my life as I walked down that aisle was life-changing, I’ve never felt so many emotions at once – I walked way too fast because I was so excited too!” Now, isn’t that just beautiful?
The freshly married couple is now focusing on kicking their professional goals until travel opens up and they can finally redo their honeymoon in New Zealand or Hawaii. In a few years, Hannah and Ryan are planning on starting a family together.

High school sweethearts Grace and Nat got our hearts melting with their super cute love story and fairytale-like ceremony at Samford Uniting Church Grounds. Grace and Nat’s love story began way back in grade nine, where their close friendship blossomed into love.
When Grace planned her wedding, she made sure that their special day was celebrated with their closest friends and family. It was Grace’s dream to have an outdoor wedding and after numerous plan changes and COVID alterations, the couple finally managed to get their dream location. When Grace initially sent out her invitations, she had no idea that COVID was going to change everything: “Oh man, the irony of it all… I organised invitations seven months before our wedding, and then we had to change venue three times due to COVID. When restrictions changed a week before our wedding and we couldn’t keep our contingency location, we were allowed back to the original location and plans! We laughed when we realised we could have used the original invitations after all (except they’re still sitting in my cupboard)!”
Despite the initial frustration of having to alter their invitations, the Brisbane couple was over the moon to be celebrating their love at the venue of their choice. It all worked out the way it was meant to be.
When we asked Grace what her favourite moment of her wedding day was, she remembered standing in front of Nat when he gave his speech, during their reception: “…looking out into the beautiful fairy lights and greenery to our dearest people, and feeling so supported, loved and thankful to finally be married to my husband!” Our hearts are officially melted!
Grace walked into our Brisbane boutique looking for a flowery lace dress and fell in love with GAIA by Stella York. She loved the feel of the dress and how it made her feel like it was part of her skin. She was also obsessed with the invisible neckline on her gown. When describing her White Lily Couture experience, she said that she felt really relaxed and like she had all the time in the world: “I described my dream dress, and there it was in front of me!”
Offering advice to future brides and couples, Grace emphasises to remember what really matters and why you are there: “Hold onto all of the details lightly because they’re ultimately not important.” Although COVID changed their plans in many ways, Grace and Nat are more than happy with how their special day played out. “In the end, we were so thankful for our day and the adversity only made us closer! When things are out of your control like they are now, it is important to do what you can with what you have, rather than ruminate on your “dream day”. It will still be beautiful!”
After Grace and Nat’s wedding day, the couple is now more excited than ever to see what the future holds for both of them. Unsure where exactly the years will take them, Grace and Nat both know that there will be a lot of beach exploration, at as many new shorelines that they can find!
